National Curriculum
The national curriculum that we follow at our pre-school in Oldham is called: The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). We will work with your child to identify their strengths and provide a tailored learning solution based on your child’s interests including outdoor and sensory play whatever the weather!
We intend to ensure that we provide a broad and balanced curriculum which builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills of every child, whatever their starting points, as they progress towards the early learning goals.
We use a range of teaching skills to scaffold children’s learning and look for teachable moments, in other words, tapping into whatever has piqued a child’s interest to further extend their learning.
Using the information that we have gathered over some time, we can identify the difference that we have made.

We Focus On
Communication and language
We teach through conversation and encourage new vocabulary and clarity of pronunciation. Communication is very important so we focus on this throughout the day.
Personal, social and emotional development
Using your child’s interests as a base, we pick up on teaching situations throughout the day to encourage your child’s development.
Physical development
Play time and social interaction are key to your child’s physical development. We ensure your child knows how to play safely at all times with a focus on healthy exercise.
Understanding the world
We look for teachable moments throughout the day to show your child why things are safe or not safe. A good understanding of the world will set your child up for school.
Literacy
We focus on the basics of literacy throughout the day to ensure your child is ready when the time comes to go to school.
Mathematics
To prepare your child for school we use games and other interactive methods to teach some basic mathematical skills.
Expressive arts and design
Sensory expressive arts and design are fantastic ways to bring out the creativity in your child.
